General Information

Language

In Morocco, the official languages are Arabic and Berber. However, due to its history of French colonization and its position as a major tourist destination, English and French are also commonly spoken, especially in areas frequented by tourists and in business settings. English communication can be quite common in touristic cities like Marrakech, Casablanca, and Fes.

Time Zone

Morocco is on permanent Daylight Saving Time (DST) most of the year (UTC+1), using the time zone Western European Summer Time (WEST). However, for Ramadan, the clocks are turned back 1 hour from UTC+1 to UTC+0.

Electricity

In Morocco, the electricity supply is 220 volts, similar to other European countries. The socket type is standard Type C and Type E (European) with two round prongs. Some hotels, especially higher-end ones, may provide sockets compatible with North American-style 120 volts, 60 Hz plugs, but this is less common.

Weather

The average temperatures in Marrakech in November range from 11°C to 23°C, with an average of 17°C. There is a 65% chance of having a sunny day and a 35% chance of having a mix of sun and clouds. I suggest checking the weather as your trip approaches,as it can vary from year to year.

Banks opening hours

The currency of Morocco is the Moroccan dirham, abbreviated as MAD. In Morocco, banknotes are available in denominations of 20, 50, 100, and 200 dirhams. Circulating coins include 1, 2, 5, and 10 dirhams, as well as smaller denominations such as 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 centimes.
